Mazunte

We left Puerto Escondido after a heavy night out so we were all pretty shattered. Myself, Nils and Johnny arrived in Mazunte at about 5:30 pm and began an amazing couple of days in this sleepy little beach town.

Day 1 in Mazunte

The first evening was pretty much perfect. Our hostel was literally right on the beach so we spent all evening sat on the beach watching the world go by. The moon was absolutely huge, and blood red – it was incredible! We smoked a joint (sorry again mum and dad) and just chilled for hours, stargazing, talking and having fun. When we all got super hungry, Johnny took us to a local food market where we ate some amazing food.

Day 2

Yet another super relaxing day at the beach. Lina and Ellen drove to meet us in Mazunte and brought Joe, Luciana and Puneet with them so the whole gang was together! We spent the day, mostly relaxing at the beach. Me and Lina made a pretty sick sand castle if I do say so myself. It took us so long and without a spade it was actually really tiring. We named it Casa Mazunte and it will last forever as the castle on the beach (It was destroyed by the sea 1 hr later). For the sunset we hiked up to an amazing viewpoint as a group before heading out for dinner. Lina chose a vegan Moroccan restaurant which was a super fancy place but so worth it. The food was absolutely incredible and we had so much of it. One of the best things about travelling to countries like Mexico, is that everything is so much cheaper than the UK. We had a full 3 course meal for just $15 each!

Day 3 in Mazunte

Today was a cool day. We woke up pretty early to go on a boat trip. The plan was to find some dolphins and hopefully swim with them! Surprisingly, the sea was really calm so it was a very pleasant trip out of the bay and into the big blue sea. Usually I get sea sick so I was a bit apprehensive, but thankfully I was okay, and it was really enjoyable. On the way to the dolphins we saw loads of turtle, and our captain even caught a tuna! After about an hour we did finally spot 1 dolphin and jumped in to try and get close. This was not a good idea. As soon as we jumped, the dolphin dived down and we lost it. But we kept on trying and eventually we saw a group of them swimming around. This time we all gently slid into the water, and as carefully as possible swam closer. In this group there were 4 dolphins and we did manage to get about 5m away from them. Unfortunately we weren’t quite enough and they did bolt but we still managed to swim with them for a few precious seconds. After the dolphin swimming, our captain took us to a snorkelling spot where we spent about 30 minutes swimming around with all the cool little fish. It was a pretty cool morning.

Just me looking sexy

In the afternoon, we ended our stay in Mazunte and headed towards a small little beach called La Boquilla
